Stepping Away from the Noise

Noise: A sound, especially one that is loud or unpleasant or that causes disturbance.

For the past couple of weeks, I felt the urge to remove myself from the NOISE.

Before I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey, the only Social Media App I used was Instagram which I mostly browsed when I got home from work. I created a Facebook account for Business only as God instructed me two years ago and recently he instructed me to join Tiktok.

My posts should only be used to build my platforms Her Luxe Haven, Anja Beauty or any other brands I establish. Additionally, they are for promoting other person’s businesses or pages that align with my brand, message, or beliefs as well as what the Lord randomly says to me throughout the day.

However, I found myself opening these Social Media apps for NO reason, but to scroll for the past few weeks, which was a significant red flag.

To curb this I’d put down my phone at 10 pm when it was prayer time. Which meant I wouldn’t answer any calls or texts after 10 pm until 9 am the following day; but I still felt it was too noisy!

I decided to go on a Social Media Fast for a week from August (Aug 8 – Aug 14); I did this occasionally, but only on weekends. The last time was early 2020, so now it was time for 2021 Social Media Fast.

Fasting for me doesn’t mean just food. You can fast from anything taking too much of your time away from God or something you like to indulge in to present a sacrifice unto God.

The Purpose of my Fast:

  1. To limit the noise and messages that were entering my eyes and ears. Being a creative person, I cannot allow things to obstruct me or hinder me from hearing God’s plans.

2. Deepen my relationship with God with an enhanced prayer life and reading more of his word.

By the End of the Fast, I expected:

  1. To have a closer relationship with God.
  2. Guidance for my next Step in Life.
  3. Spirit of Boldness, Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge.

I fasted from:

Facebook

Twitter

Instagram

TikTok

WhatsApp

I barely watched television, but I vowed that I wouldn’t watch anything that wasn’t Spiritual for the week.

I’ll like to apologize if you messaged and I didn’t respond or took long to answer last week.

On Day 2 of the fast, my Pastor asked me to open for the Ministry’s Annual Conference with announcements and prayer for the Midday Session just out of the blue.

She is a Woman of God lead by the Holy Spirit, so while I sat at my desk, I laughed and thought, “Well, you asked for it, just say Okay.”

Midday came; I did what was asked of me and continued my workday.

By the end of the day, I was asked by my Pastor to open the Conference Midday Sessions for the remainder of the week and pray for two more days. This means that EVERYDAY at noon, I was on Facebook Live.

I asked for the Spirit of Boldness, and God presented the opportunity to do so.

For the remainder of the week, I became more confident with my and announcements and prayers. I’m still a work in progress, but I’m receiving what I’m praying for.

God also told me that I needed to wake up at 4 am daily and pray. Whew! Forgive ME, Lord.

He also reminded me why I joined Social Media, and I started to enjoy reading the word again.

OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW CAN I FORGET!

While at work my mind was much clearer which aided in providing solutions for issues with wisdom.

Now that the fast is over, I’m at the point that I wish I didn’t have to get back on Social Media, but there’s purpose in what I do. I’ll just have to monitor and limit the amount of time spent.

It’s Always Good to……..
